Brief Winter Olympics Thought Of the Day

Short Track Speed Skating is awesome. Seriously - check it out.  Physical, tactical, strategic, athletic, exciting.

Yes, it is. It's compelling, and amazing how tensed up you can get watching something that you don't even have a real stake in at all. Gets you on the edge of your seat, or couch. :-]

I can't help but think about how my stress levels and blood pressure would be if I had a close personal friend or family involved in it. I'd be a basket case!

Very fun stuff; best of the bunch IMO.

The Biathlon differentiates the winter Olympics from the X-games. To wit the mogul skiers have "air judges." Wow, dog really shredded. Please.

Is there a Vegas line on the race?

Funniest short-track event was from 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. Australia's first Winter gold came in short-track when one guy fell taking out all the leaders. The Aussie was so far behind he missed the carnage and skated through to the gold. Check it out:

1090 - a similar thing happened this year - the koreans were 1-2-3 in the final turn, and the 2nd place guy took out the 3rd place guy, allowing Ohno and JR Celski, both from the US, to take 2nd and 3rd

Please kill Figure Skating as a sport. It's great for overpriced "Disney on Ice" with kids fawning over PRINCESS ARIEL while the parents drop $20 on those spinning lite up Cinderellas!!!

But, the "judges" having to choose a winner is about an objective as a Top 100 Hair Metal songs of the 80s list on VH-1.

I do agree Speed Skating does rock. More of this.
