Quotable

Two quotable passages today:

"“I have heard many times that atheists know more about religion than religious people,” Mr. Silverman said. “Atheism is an effect of that knowledge, not a lack of knowledge. I gave a Bible to my daughter. That’s how you make atheists.”"

2) Josh Brown, The Reformed Broker: WMT's African Adventure Begins: Pay Attention

"What the critics and pundits failed to understand about the India initiative was that Wal-Mart is one of the most gangsta companies in the history of the world.  They are as ruthless as their customers are fat."

I don't know. I'm a Presbyterian, and I went 15 for 15 on the test. In my opinion, the test indicates that most people are dumb over religion. No group got a passing score.

It also showed that among the religious, that they know their own religion better than others. That's not very surprising. I've read the Bible around twenty times, the Tao Te Ching (twice), the Koran (twice, very boring), the Book of Mormon (twice, boring), the Analects, and many other lesser-known works... but few bother with that, because to them it is bothersome.

Few Muslims read the Bible, or else they wouldn't think of the Trinity as the Father, Mary, and Jesus, rather than the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Maybe it goes back to that saying the many quote Origin of the Species, Das Kapital, and the Bible, but few read them.
